A business resilience workshop is an opportunity to plan against the unexpected! The free Plan. Adapt. It’s this focus that will be discussed at Recover. The workshop is on Thursday, 8 October, at Club Beenleigh. It encourages us to look at effective solutions, build resilience, and create a business continuity plan.

The message begins with a basic question: Are we ready for the unexpected in our business? The question is a good one to use to consider our readiness. It also links the three themes of the workshop: planning, adapting, and recovering.

The session provides a concrete opportunity for local businesses to take some time to get ready. A free workshop in the area is a good way to learn and plan. The invitation includes free food as well.

Business preparedness is our concern because…

Unexpected events can happen at any time. This is the core of this workshop and its Business Continuity theme. We can ask ourselves what we are prepared for and have time to find out more.

The flyer ties in practical measures to increase resilience and a business continuity plan. The three primary benefits that are explored in the workshop are: They provide the session with focus for businesses planning.

We may start our business with the question on the flyer. How ready are we for an unexpected thing? What aspect of planning, adapting, or recovering do we want to learn more about?

The following questions might help us make a decision about participation. They also hold our focus on what’s important to our business. The stated purpose of the workshop is known without having to guess.

It’s an opportunity to take a time out to reflect on our readiness. The workshop is designed to be a starting place for that conversation, by focusing on learning through practice.

The business resilience workshop will cover the following:

There are three interlinked areas identified in the invitation to the workshop, which are: Practical strategies; Higher Resilience; Build a Business Continuity Plan. Each offers us a perspective on our preparedness.

Practical strategies were put in focus on what we can learn about preparing for disruption. The flyer does not include individual strategies/exercises. It continues to focus on hands-on learning and business resilience and continuity.

Another major goal of resilience is to increase resilience. Another major target for resilience is to increase resilience. The workshop encourages businesses to consider this in conjunction with planning, not as individual issues. This provides us with a good sense of the session’s overall direction.

The third focus is on the development of a business continuity plan. If you’re curious about that subject, the invitation spells it out. At the core of the workshop’s program is planning.

These three areas can be used as a guide to what we want to learn when making a decision to attend. We can also indicate the focal area that is important to us. But in so doing, we have our own interest in the goals of the session.

Staying focused on business continuity planning:

The words Plan. Adapt. Recover. give the workshop its theme. They ask us to think about how we plan for events we do not expect. Business continuity planning provides a specific focus within that wider conversation.

The invitation encourages us to develop a business continuity plan. That makes this more than a broad message about being ready. It puts planning at the heart of what we will work towards at the workshop.

We might approach the session with a few questions of our own. What do we want to understand about business continuity? How does the workshop’s planning focus relate to our current concerns?

These are questions we can ask ourselves, rather than a list of things the session promises. The flyer does not describe a detailed timetable or individual exercises. This helps us stay clear about what we can expect on the day.

The benefit is a chance to learn about a subject the flyer places front and centre. For our businesses, that means giving continuity planning time and attention within a practical workshop setting.

Gaining skills and fostering collaboration within the community.

The activity is a response to the disaster 23/24 South Queensland Storms. It was said to be created to enhance Business Continuity and Resilience after the event. This helps to establish a linkage between the workshop and impacted communities.

The activity is intended to help strengthen the capacity and skills of community members, businesses, and services in the affected communities. It also promotes the collaboration of the locals. The attention is thus no longer limited to one company but reaches the community at large.

You can use this to elucidate the “why” of the activity for the people who might consider participating. Practical learning and planning are part of a wider strategy to enhance local resilience. One specific goal of that effort is to collaborate.

The flyer thanks the Australian and Queensland governments for their assistance under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), a shared initiative with the Australian government. It also features the City of Logan’s logo. This information is conveyed in the flyer, as well as the objectives of the activity.

A clarification of the material is part of the funding statement. It does not necessarily represent the views of either government. It is important that we remember this when we give information about the workshop.
